In the instance where we are in a declared State of Emergency for any reason and the government requires dance studios/small businesses to close the dance studio will close until we are able to reopen. With COVID – 19 it is important that we follow all policies, protocols, rules and procedures in accordance with the CDC and the PA DOH. We also follow General McLane School Districts K – 12 schools however if the school is closed but we are allowed to remain open we will continue classes as normal. If GMSD cancels due to weather we will close. You will be notified via the Remind App regarding any unscheduled closures. You must be signed up as this is the main way you will be notified of cancelled classes. When in doubt check the studio's Facebook page and the website.
Attendance and temperature screening readings will be kept, recorded and saved for all classes each week. If your child is unable to attend class please send us a quick email so we can keep track of why they missed. This is not kept track of for any other reason than to have records of possible illnesses. Students will not be penalized for missing classes. If your child is absent they are able to watch previously recorded dance classes on our Facebook family page. It is a private group so you must request to join, it is Miss Katie’s Dance Studio Family.
COVID – 19 POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
These are in line with PA Department of Health to keep our students, staff, and families safe during this time. Please note that rules and regulations are subject to change to keep in accordance with the CDC and the PA DOH. Many things will be simplified or eliminated from previous years. We will be doing everything we can to cut back and simplify things this year so we can focus solely on dance. Just like everything else there will be many changes and rules that will be in effect this year to help to keep everyone healthy and safe and while it will not be what we are used to it is necessary for us to be able to have a healthy and happy dance season.
Please respect social distancing guidelines while outside the studio.
Staff will let dancers in one at a time.
Temperature checks will be taken for each class each week. Anyone with a temperature over 100.4 will not be permitted to stay and will be sent back out to their parents. Parents, if you are leaving and coming back please wait 5 minutes before leaving the parking lot. Dancers and teachers are required to wear masks or face coverings at all times. Short masks breaks may be taken while spread out at a minimum of 6ft away from each other. Once a dancer has had their temperature taken, they will put their things in a cubby, will be asked to sanitize or wash their hands and then wait on marked spots until we are all ready to go in the studio. The lobby and restrooms WILL NOT BE OPEN to anyone other than staff and the dancers that are currently in the building for their class. At this time parents must wait in their cars or return at pickup time. If you choose to wait please remain in your car not out and about in the parking lot.
The waiting room and room where the office is will be closed this year. One restroom will be available. Only students, instructors and staff will be permitted in the building, parents must drop off and pick up their child or remain in the car during their child’s dance class. Parents with younger students may walk them to the door and wait outside for them when their class is dismissed but will not be permitted to enter the building. The only time a parent is permitted in the building is to pay tuition.
All dancers must be able to use the restroom by themselves to be enrolled this year, sadly we will not be offering a baby class at this time. We highly encourage you to have your child use the restroom before they get here when possible.
Please make sure all dance wear is clean and has not been worn anywhere since it has last been washed. All dancers should arrive in their dance attire ready to dance. Dancers will be required to put their belongings in the cubicles. Please send only dance shoes and a water bottle with your dancer. We’re encouraging everyone to only come in with essentials on, please do not bring extra things. All items besides their coat and shoes should fit in their dance bag. Dancers will need to bring their own water bottle to each class.
We will have the dance studio floor marked with numbers and each dancer will receive their own individual space. Dancers will remain 6 feet apart. The waiting room will also be marked with carpet disks spaced 6 feet apart for dancers to sit on and wait to enter the studio.
The studio will be cleaned between each group of dancers, and all high touch surfaces will be wiped down. We have a 10 minute window in between all younger classes and a 5 minute window between older classes to clean, dismiss the dancers and bring in the next class.
We will keep our normal attendance records along with temperatures to be able to provide contact tracing information if needed. If you cannot attend class, please let us know along with the reason via email so we can keep accurate records.
Hands will again be sanitized at the end of class, and we will dismiss one at a time. Please be prompt picking up your dancer, so we may complete our cleaning procedures and welcome our next group of dancers into the studio on time. The next class will not be permitted into the building until the entire class before them has exited. Dancers will not be permitted to come in early this year.
Please make sure you take everything with you from the studio when you leave. We will not be keeping a lost and found during this time.
Classes are capped at 12 dancers in younger classes and 16 older students and 2-4 staff members, not to exceed 20 people in the building at one time.
Guidelines may be updated at any time with new information from the County, State, or Federal Government. We reserve the right to offer additional safety precautions outside of government guidelines to best protect our students, staff, and families.
While we will do our best to provide the safest environment possible and minimize risks, there is an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 in any public place where people are present.
By attending classes, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19. In order for your child to participate in classes the COVID -19 waiver must be signed and returned prior to their first class.
IF YOUR CHILD IS SICK EVEN JUST A LITTLE DO NOT SEND THEM TO CLASS. This year we must be diligent in doing our absolute best to keep everyone safe and healthy. While we understand that you do not want them missing class please know that if the come here sick they will be sent home. We just cannot afford the risk during this time.
The building will not be unlocked until 10 minutes prior to the first class of the day.
